Prophecy Stone is a pseudomorph of Limonite and Hematite after Marcasite or Pyrite. Basically this means they started out as Marcasite and/or Pyrite and transformed into Limonite and Hematite while keeping its original shape.

Many sites say that Prophecy Stone is rare, but I’d say they are not common or an unusual find. (I reserve the word "rare" for ones that are truly a rare find.)
